Catering Halls Use Room Divider Screens for a Cost Effective Solution to Divide Large Spaces

Large halls such as catering halls, banquet and receptions halls face the challenge of how to arrange the large space based on the event and amount of guests.  Many large reception halls use mobile folding partitions.  Some are custom made and others are commonly found in institutions or other commercial places.  These types of room dividers are very costly.  To efficiently divide a large hall measuring over 60ft wide, would cost over $5000.  Commercial room dividers are not also the most attractive.  If you are planning an event in a large social hall, yet there will only be handful of guests, the event would look empty if the space was left undivided.

This Italian catering and banquet hall in West Virginia, uses a cost effective way to create attractive, portable inexpensive partitions.  The owner of the venue purchased 5 art print room divider screens of red roses as well as eight shoji screens in 4 panels each.  The art printed screens of the roses are creatively used as a backdrop with accented lights around it.  This backdrop makes for a perfect visual center piece where the bride and groom can sit in front of.

The shoji screens are used to create an extra room for the ceremonial participants.  This partition creates almost like a back stage area for performers.   Since the screens are light weight for mobility, a creative way to add support to the screens is to place floor plants in front and in back as show in the images.

Wall Posters Transform Into Functional Art

Wall Posters Transform Living Spaces Into Functional Art
The New Urban Trend in Theme Decorating with Room Divider Screens

Wall posters are a thing of the past. Now they can be replaced by a 6ft folding screen that not only divides the space of a room, but also boasts a unique iconic printed image front and back.  Many people are familiar with famous city skyline pictures of New York City, Paris, London as well as the exotic beaches of Santorini and Hawaii. All the popular posters that once were either taped to a teenager’s wall can now be replaced by art print room dividers.

A three panel folding screen weighs about 8 lbs. To keep production costs down, the surface of these decorative paneled screens, on which the large image is printed, is printed on a poly-cotton blend canvas, rather than an all cotton canvas. This material is similar to a vinyl canvas that is commonly used to print wall decals and banners making it easy to clean. The finished printed canvas is wrapped around a lightweight kiln dried spruce wood frame. Because the substitution of cheaper material and overseas production costs are significantly cheaper, these art print room dividers can look deceivingly expensive yet they retail for around $129.

The trend for using these decorative screens is also taking off in many urban areas and college dorms.  The famous wall poster which once was just hung or taped to a wall as a reminder of one’s self-expression has now made its way onto a large functional piece of art that stands on the floor in the center of any room. The divider can be folded and neatly put away when company arrives. When the time comes to retire the folding screen, the hinges can be removed and the panels can be mounted to the wall as an attractive piece of canvas art.

In urban settings, many people live in small apartments or studios where a room divider folding screen is very functional and can visually define a space or can be used to create a temporary wall for privacy.  Benjamin, a young and hip furniture salesman living in Manhattan, realized from his experience with working for various different furniture stores around New York City that they all carried the same commonly seen Japanese shoji screen with the window pane pattern.  There was never a real vast selection of screens.  He then created the popular e-commerce site, UrbanAccentsNY.com, featuring hundreds of different room divider screens with art print from a diverse range of subjects and themes.

As Benjamin says, “These art print dividers are very functional and have multiple uses. They are perfect for theme decorating your apartment and can also be used as visual merchandising props in boutiques, restaurants, catering halls, day care centers and schools. I like think of them as portable wall murals.” An example of a room divider’s urban commercial use is in small clothing boutiques which do not have ample space for a full-size dressing room, they instead buy 3 screens to make an instant pop-up dressing room so their customers can try on clothes in privacy.

These decorative paneled screens are mass produced in huge printing presses in China.  To keep production costs down, the surface on which the large image is printed on is a poly-cotton blend canvas, rather than an all cotton canvas.  This material is similar to to a vinyl canvas commonly used to print wall decals.  The finished printed canvas is wrapped around a lightweight kiln dried spruce wood frame. Visual Merchandising Display Ideas Using Room Dividers & Folding Screens

One thing I find very useful for these art print room dividers is that they are not only used to divide a section of a room, but also can be used in various ways.  Retail stores can use them as a back drop for the window display merchandising.  Lets say you have a clothing boutique.  There are many different screens you could use.  The Mannequin screen is one of the most popular designs.  This screen comes in 3 or 4 panels.  The vintage theme screens are also quite useful for retail stores.  Another way you could use it is at a trade show, or flea market.  From all the different screens available. There should be one that fits your theme of what you are promoting or selling.  Lastly for those people that produce their own video blogs for youtube or other video sharing websites.  These different themed screens make a nice backdrop for when you are talking in front of the camera.  This helps hide any clutter, or personal items that should be concealed.
